Buckle up for this review i've got A LOT to say and my boss is working from home:

I recently tried using the Rustoleum chalk paint on my kitchen table...it was awful. I had to add sooooo much water to the paint to make the brush stroke go farther than 3 inches. The table looks hilariously bad...like we dipped my dogs tail in white oil paint and got her to wag it on, or dipped her in a bucket of dissolved chalk and olive oil and scrubbed it on with her limp body. (I do not let me beloved pet near paint fyi)

But THIS STUFF...this beautiful, beautiful stuff transformed this nasty, sad old pine cabinet I bought from a recent divorcee in South London (she's fine now, better off really, thanks for asking) and transformed it into.......this elegant drinks cabinet that looks like it just put down Khloe Kardashians "Revenge Body" book, and like a bat out of hell has hit the gym and green juice HARD.

I know you're thinking, geeez is this worth the cost? My second-hand furniture was only £4 and now I'm splurging on this? Let me alleviate your concerns:

A) I bought a litre and did two coats on the pictured cabinet and have enough left for at least two more cabinets. Gonna be rainin' DIY up in hurr.
B) The title says it all. Painting with this stuff is so satisfying it's like watching 14 slime videos on instragram without blinking
C) It looks professional. No brush strokes. Dried super fast. Varnished it with Ronseal internal clear gloss varnish. (Top is Everbuild Satin Walnut stain - 2 coats and varnish!)
D) I posted the transformation on my insta story and got 10...yes TEN Dm's from it. T-E-N. Think about that. It's a cabinet, and I'm 27. The people love the paint.
E) it took only a couple hours...I have no patience and I want immediate results and this delivered.

I am well impressed. I have tried Rostoleum chalk paint before and wasn't that pleased with the results. I have read some good reviews about Gracemary chalk and clay paint and I have decided to give it ago, despite the price which is slightly higher that other brands. After I have used it I realized why! The quality is absolutely excellent. It's not so dense like rostoleum and this allows you not to get messy as the paint doesn't dry too quickly. Practically no brush marks and I have used the same brush so it has to be because of the paint. It is advertised that is one coat coverage but this is not true. It definitely needs 2 coats. Apart from that, there is really nothing that really needs to be improved. I have used the paint on already painted wooden surfaces and I am going to buy more colours for more projects so I can test it on different materials. So far so good!!

So far so good. The French Grey is very pale with a slight blue tinge. I've done a first coat on a table and four chairs and matching sideboard , Leksvik range from Ikea. It's vwry easy to use. Good coverage after one coat but I've ordered more. Im ready to paint my living room furniture next. It's made such a difference to furniture I was going to replace. So happy I didn't.

Having always used Annie Sloan paint I have to say I think I prefer this. It goes on beautifully no dreaded brush marks which for me is a huge bonus. Even 2nd coats are easy to apply. It definitely has no after smell which I found with previous chalk paint that take a while to dissipate. Would highly recommend. Would be nice to have some instructions eg., how long to leave between coats and before waxing etc.

Firstly, I am a novice at upcycling but I have to say that this is a fantastic product. Bought it for my second upcycling project as I had used the Rustoleum paint on my first project, and although it was OK I felt it was thick and the brush marks more defined. Not the case with GraceMary. It goes on really easily and the brush marks are minimal but I did use a soft bristle paint brush; however, I'm new to this, so not really sure what you should use. I had looked at youtube and some clips said to mix chalk paint with water, or spray it with water if it is thick. There is no need to do this with GraceMary. The paint has good coverage and I used two coats for a medium/dark cabinet (you could get away with one if you take your time but I prefer two coats). This paint also goes a long way. I was dubious about whether 250ml would be enough for a 4ft tall narrow cabinet with four drawers but it was sufficient, compared to the Rustoleum, which was 750ml and I needed three coats for a small dark cabinet (granted I was probably not using the correct brush and I should have sprayed it with water). Therefore, this paint is much more economical as it goes further.
I was really pleased with the colour, even though in the tin it looked more green than I wanted, but once on and waxed it's perfect. If would fully recommend this product for anyone who wants to have a go a upcycling but feels a bit nervous and unsure which paint to choose.

Absolutely loved this paint. I've done furniture products before and it's never turned out quite right- but decided to give this a shot on an extremely old fashioned dark wood dressing table stool.

First coat of paint went on quite streaky and I panicked and thought it was all going to go wrong again. Waited for it to dry (took about half an hour but I left it for 3, just to be safe) and painted the second coat. Panic over because it was beautiful! The colour evened out, no brush strokes, no drips just perfect!

The tin is TINY. But I didn't even use a quarter of the can on this, and I completed with three coats. A little goes a LONG way

I've got my eye on more colours for some more projects as I'm remotivated again now!

Very happy with this paint. Had previously tried some rustoleum and found it to be patchy on application so I was wary of using this. I bought White Sands to cover an old orange-pine mantelpiece. I was pleasantly surprised! This went on very evenly and a nice creamy texture. 2 coats did the trick, finished off with a wax finished. Looks fabulous, a lovely light clotted cream colour.
